What we collect, and your choices

Who’s responsible

AI Atlas is operated by AI Atlas, LLC, an Oklahoma limited liability company.

Analytics cookies

With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are visited, where visitors arrive from, and general device and location information. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<id>, and Google processes this data on our behalf. Google Analytics keeps this event data for 14 months, after which it’s deleted automatically.

Google Analytics does not load at all until you accept, and never loads if you decline. Your choice is kept in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, so we don’t ask again on every visit.

Cookie-free analytics

We also use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights, which set no cookies and don’t need your consent. They record which pages are viewed, where visitors arrive from, country, browser and device type, and how quickly pages load, and report these to us only in aggregate. Vercel tells visits apart using a short-lived hash of the request, which it discards after 24 hours, and doesn’t store your IP address.

Profile view counts

We count views of company profiles so listed companies can see their traffic. This uses no cookies: we record only which profile was viewed and when, with nothing that identifies you, and we don’t count automated crawlers.

Embedded videos

Some listings include a video, which plays in a YouTube or Vimeo player embedded in the profile page. When you view a profile with a video, your browser loads that player from YouTube’s or Vimeo’s own servers, so they receive your visit, including your IP address and browser details.

We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) and Vimeo’s do-not-track setting to limit tracking, but your view still reaches those services, and it’s covered by their own privacy policies: Google’s for YouTube and Vimeo’s.

Accounts

If you create an account we store your email address, the name you give (if any), and either a hash of your password or, if you sign in with Google or GitHub, no password at all; in that case we receive your verified email and name from them. Signing in sets a session cookie, which the site needs to keep you logged in.

If you claim a listing, we store the claim, how it was verified, and when you agreed to display the AI Atlas badge.

Payments

Paid plans are handled by Stripe, which collects and holds your card details. We store only the Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and your plan, its status and when it renews.

Where it’s kept

The site is hosted on Vercel and its database on Turso. We don’t sell your data or share it beyond the services named here.

As our host, Vercel processes visitors’ IP addresses in its request logs, as any web server does, to deliver the site and keep it secure.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active. If you ask us to delete it, we delete it within 30 days, unless we’re legally required to keep a record for longer, such as the payment records Stripe keeps for tax purposes.

Profile view counts contain nothing that identifies you, so they are kept as part of each listing’s traffic history.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • see the personal data we hold about you, and correct or delete it;
  • stop or limit how we use it, where you object to that use;
  • give you a copy of it in a portable, machine-readable format.

Email hello@aiatlas.directory with any of these. You can also withdraw analytics consent at any time using the setting above.

If you’re in the EU or UK and unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

AI Atlas isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page as the site changes, and the date at the top will show when it last changed.
